Mankind can truly benefit from the discoveries made within the technology of bioprinting. With countless people on the organ transplant waiting list, with a fraction of patients actually receiving them, bioprinting has the potential ability to construct organs; helping unfortunate people worldwide. Currently, bioprinting is being used on a small-scale which contributes towards advancements in drug discovery – but in the future, full organs will be able to be constructed at a much faster process speed.

The process of bioprinting is based upon three elements, cells, hydrogel and the NovoGen MMX Bioprinter. Cells are sourced from biopsies or stem cells, grown & cultured, and then collected to form BioInk in a specialised cartridge. From this, printing occurs which enables scientists to test new drugs and investigate causes of diseases. In the future, hopefully this process will be used as a therapy to cure diseases.
